Oldenburg, Germany, 23 January 2023. Dr. Christian Friege will take over the Sales division of the Oldenburg-based energy and telecommunications Group EWE on 1 March 2023. He succeeds Michael Heidkamp, who left the company in summer 2022. From 2016 to the end of 2022, Dr. Friege was Chief Executive Officer of Oldenburg-based CEWE Stiftung & Co. KGaA. During his time, the 56-year-old has led the CEWE business to significant growth and expanded the European market leadership in digital picture offerings.

Dr. Christian Friege began his career with Bertelsmann AG. From there, he moved to the Management Board of Debitel AG, where he was responsible for customer relationships. In the years that followed, he was initially the Chief Executive Officer of Lichtblick AG and later of CEWE. Among other affiliations, Friege is a member of the University Council of Carl von Ossietzky University, Oldenburg; a member of the Supervisory Board of Vierol AG; Chairman of the advisory board of the AHOI_MINT initiative in Oldenburg; and a trustee of Stiftung Teilhabe Oldenburg.
