EWE was not only a pioneer in the expansion of on- and offshore wind energy but is also at the forefront of intelligent network management and the largest possible integration of renewable energies. Therefore, our goal is to become climate neutral by 2035 and accompany our customers on their road to climate neutrality.
Together for climate protection - Climate-neutral by 2035
EWE supports climate protection measures like the European Green Deal or the Paris Agreement on climate change – to which EWE commits itself expressly by signing a declaration. Climate protection has traditionally been of great importance for us and played a central role in our decisions. Always. We remain firmly on this path and will become climate neutral by 2035 – also to achieve this we will invest EUR 10 billion.
Our goal
Based on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, EWE compiled retrospectively its climate data for the year 2018. The goal is to become climate-neutral in Scopes 1 and 2 through a wide range of measures and to achieve 50 and 65 per cent in upstream and downstream Scope 3, respectively, by 2035.
Climate protection and climate impact are integral decision-making criteria for us. We do not only act economically but also sustainably for ourselves, our customers and future generations. Also to achieve this, we will invest over EUR 7 billion in the coming years.
We will avoid and reduce emissions. For us, compensating for them is the second choice.
We continually identify measures in the areas of generation and energy transport and infrastructure operations in order to clearly reduce our own emissions.

We are reducing our emissions. However, climate protection is a joint effort. Therefore, we offer our customers the possibility to make their own contribution. EWE’s green offer is diverse and expanded on a permanent basis.
